MBA versus PhD

I’ve been asking around a lot with regards to MBA versus PhD.

Here is the response thus far:

1) Well, I think it depends upon which career path you want to venture down. MBA’s are hot right now, but I can see them becoming saturated in the near future. A PhD essentially marries you to the technical career path, which you may or may not be overly excited about.

2) PhD in any field is more valuable in terms of knowledge. However, MBA may be more marketable for more jobs.

I will continue on an gather more feedback and information. So I can make a well-informed decision.

• I realize that leadership is almost similar to love and Math. Where everybody has it and everybody does it. But one may have more or less of such effects onto one another.

• Leadership has also been misrepresented one too many times. Management is not leadership. You can manage but doesn’t mean you can lead. That’s Task versus Goal debate again.

• It’s also circumstantial. Winston Churchill for instance was a great leader during the War but slumped quite a bit during normal environment.
