The Sentra fuel efficiency has reached another milestone again. Incredible. I have driven my Sentra over 18,000km and gas mileage seems to improve over time. Only time will tell when the fuel efficiency numbers would eventually flat out.

Below is the “dissected” average by distance (km):
71234 - 80,000: 28.722 mpg
80,001- 85,000: 29.173 mpg
85,000 - today : 30.213 mpg

Current practice
1) Timely maintenance.
2) Remove unnecessary weight to improve power-to-weight ratio
3) Cruise (minimize difference in speed, less breaking, gentle acceleration)

Recent Improvement
The one highlighted in red above shows amazing improvement. Such results in the red circle (where the yellow line of moving average is nearly touching 30mpg) are observed immediately after the following changes:
1) Tire pressure increment from 30psi to 37psi.
2) Fill up gas in the morning with slow-flow technique
3) Drive between 80 to 100 km/h as much as possible at the highest gear (doesn’t make sense to do the same at lower gears that would significantly increase load to the engine and reduce efficiency)

You’re welcome to try. If it doesn’t work, you may come and argue with me ONLY if you have the data to back you up. No proof, no argument.

Salam. I would think that 37 psi for a cold tire was a bit excessive. Wouldn’t that cause uneven wear of the tyre, prematurely retiring (heh, re-tire-ing) it?

i might have overpressured that a lil bit… see how it goes. maybe i clip it down a bit to 35.
