  • Objective: Re-constructive Surgery III

I informed my superior about the surgery.

He asked if I could defer my surgery. Manning is too low.

My only question is… when would we have enough manning? By the time we have enough, I’d be old enough to retire. Forget about re-constructive surgery.

We sent off dad early in the morning. It always feels somber whenever he left for work. It’s like unfinished sentence.

I went to see Dr. Ismail. He’s going be my knee surgeon. I feel quite comfortable about the surgery. I’ve done my brainstorming, norming, and forming sessions. It’s performing time now. LOL.

In hindsight, Dr. Ismail and my dad know each other. Dr. Ismail told me that the last time he met dad was during K.Long & K.Ngah’s wedding. That was back in 2002. OK, maybe they know each other but not that well. And the company doctor was dad’s junior in high school. I’ve covered my first meeting with him here.

Come evening, I brought everyone to Chop & Steak for a dinner. The food was not as excellent as it used to be but we headed there anyway because of the convenience and of course, the price.

Some time close to noon, Alya & I fetched CB and Ashbi from their school. They had this “Computhon” thingy that was supposed to aim at raising some money for the school. Yeah. School always needs some extra money. Why don’t we normally have enough budgets for schools? Are schools greedy beyond what they need?

Then I dropped by one of the panel clinics as a preparation for the knee surgery. It needs to happen. It simply does. I’ve made up my mind.

    Mission accomplished.

We returned back to land. It was a little tough to get a cab on Friday. But we were lucky to get a flight back to KL.

I for one had failed a test that I set up on my own. I was the examiner and the examinee all at the same time. And I failed.

We went to Gorge platform this time.

Sweet curve! We also sampled the crude. That was the best Coriolis DDR I’ve ever completed. Although it took us all the way until late evening to accomplish it, it was all worth the effort and time.

I felt more stable this time. I learned from yesterday: eat and drink just enough. No carbonated drinks. Enough sugar already.

Even though it was not as bad as yesterday, the sea was still a little rough. Swell was 3 meters high. Fortunately for us there was a wireline crew on-board Leaf we could get on the helideck via crane-arm and basket. Otherwise, we had to Tarzan in and out the platform.

I witnessed the Leaf’s Coriolis meter to exhibit its full sense of metering yet again. If nobody wanted to believe me, fine, I’d let Johan to report it out. I’m so freaking tired of not being heard.

I find this hard to fathom – I have been assigned to perform this duty and yet you do not trust the information and analysis that I carry, not once, but many times over. Assign someone else then?

Second offshore trip in June. I gave everybody one more chance to take a shot at this. No more. I’m not that indispensable, you know.

We rushed for a trip to Leaf and back. I was so dizzy during the last 5 minutes – I almost fell while shifting through the seats to exit the boat. That was all due to the soda pop that I had a couple of hours back. Those carbonated drinks could really turn your stomach light.

I recovered the boo-boo for the preparation offshore. My senior had assumed that the other functions of my department and the department I am supporting were really functioning.

    Apparently they were not.

I helped to recover and properly “push” for the logistics arrangement to happen. My goodness. We’re even challenged in arranging the travel to our work site. Let alone the actual work itself.

  • Power and control

I bowled in the morning under one of the company recreation activities. This game did not involve knee very much. That’s why I could go for it.

Surprisingly enough, I managed to score above my average. Power is useless without control. That’s what I learn from bowling.
