Malaysians become poorer
Malaysians become a bit poorer the moment 1 cent coin value gets discarded. It’s an obvious sign that the standard of living has dropped.

I counted the 1-cent coins in my possession and the value that has suddenly gone to extinction is:
MYR1.85
I’m going to make a lot of assumptions now, so bear with me. Assuming all the 25 million people in Malaysia have in average at least half of what I do in terms of 1-cent coins, the wealth that would suddenly disappear would be:
MYR23,125,000.00
I’m pretty sure Zeti has estimated that amount already in greater precision and details.

That’s a pity – reminds me of younger days when those small copper round things used to have value(I used to collect them and change it for higher valued-coins/dollars)

i still do. well, not for 1cent coins anymore. maybe if i store em long enough, theyll become valuable again… as antiques… haha. i’ll pass em down to my grandchildren then.
