I woke up to the sound of the lower bed occupant leaving the room. He was actually the additional supervisor assigned to bolster some progress for the shutdown preparation.
The first challenge was to liaise with the platform storeman on getting the right tools and materials. Then it was tracing the power to the cabinet that we had been planning to remove.
What happened next was quite a heart attack. While planning to inspect the inside of a distribution panel, I accidentally turned off the main switch, killing off the power to some primary DCS cabinets. Screens went blank and operators were scratching their heads for numbers. The platform supervisor came down, did a little investigation and acknowledged the error. Nothing actually went down and work activities resumed as normal about an hour after that.
I will remember this DP forever. Notice how close the ON-OFF switch to the screw at the top right. There isn’t even clear label for ON / OFF.
